Burn Up W

Burn Up W ( ‘W' is for Warrior ), is an extension of the original Burn Up. Burn Up W actually has little in common with it's predecessor. The characters and storyline are completely different. Burn Up W does take place around the same time line however; in the near future. The other thing that Burn Up W has in common with the original is the theme: girls clad in tight body armor blowing the crap out of everything. Lots of humor, slightly ecchi at times, with lots of action, Burn Up W is a series worth looking into. Unfortunately the series was released by A.D. Vision, who decided (probably while smoking crack) that charging $20 for half an hour of anime was alright (and that's for the dubbed version!). If Burn Up W had been released with two episodes per tape, I would highly recommend it, but under current circumstances, I can't recommend paying $80 for 2 hours of anime. If you do however have the chance to rent this anime, definitely look into checking it out. The dub was fairly well done, and the animation is also good quality.

Characters Song Lyrics Synopsis

File 1: Skin Dive

One day in a hotel, important people from all over the world gather. Then terrorists strike, and the hotel is captured, and the people taken hostage. Meanwhile, Rio is stuck doing paperwork, and talking to Yuji. Miya on the other hand has set up the observation post, and Lilica goes on about her daily business. Until the terrorists make their demands.

Demand 1 - The manager of the TC Giants must apologize for his baseball teams performance.
Demand 2 - The word final must be added to the cover of the game Dragonball 9.
Demand 3 - All surf boards must be broken into tiny pieces.
Demand 4 - The pop singer Umi Kawai must bungee jump nude from the top of the hotel.

Meanwhile Maki gets approval to use Warrior to save the hostages. So Warrior executes a plan, they give in to the demands, but not the way the terrorists intended... with 3 demands met, and the terrorists in tears, a helicopter appears... with a woman about to bungee jump nude. From that distance, Rio looks a lot like Umi! .. So Warrior busts in the hotel. Yet... it was all just a front for another operation... actually the terrorists were simply decoys while V.I.P.'s were shown a device known as the virtual drug....

File 2: The Virtual Idol

One day Yuji is talking with a virtual idol Maria, when she suddenly disappears. The next day in the real world, Warrior gets paid. Unfortunately Rio doesn't get enough money, after a brief discussion about the subject Yuji finds out that his co-workers couldn't care less, but Maria is reported as a missing person! Meanwhile, the virtual drug syndicate his taking care of business... and 3 of their competitors end up dead by the hands of an attack android. But they experience a major setback since Maria escapes (they need her data). Later that day, Rio is assigned (on regular duty) to Maria's case, as it turns out Maria needs money and demands a ransom for her own kidnaping. So Rio waits at an airport... and Maria shows up, but so does the attack android! Rio fights the android... but it's tougher than it looks! What now?? Nanvel shows up.. with her new anti-android attack weapon El-Heggunte! Unfortunately El Heggunte goes haywire (the sort of thing that happens in Evangelion... hmm...). Luckily it goes haywire in the right place and the android is destroyed... but so is a major bridge. More budget problems for the police department...

Files 3 & 4: Policetown Assault

Late one night, a police raid turns up the first of something which would first set Warrior to cross paths with the virtual drug syndicate. The next day things are normal, Rio attempts to sell her underwear in order to get money... and oddly enough Yuji walks into the store when she's trying to sell them! After Yuji attempts to stop the bill collectors after her, Rio visits her good friend Gisato. That night the virtual drug syndicate brainwashes yet another victim. The next day Nanvel, and Lilica try to dissect the mysterious object sized in the police raid. Meanwhile, the same man enters the police station dressed as an officer... he then goes on a shooting spree and Gisato is killed. The next day, a van drives into the police station, and two men start shooting the police. With another man inside preventing the security alarm going off, it's a slaughter. Will Warrior fight back?

Of course they will! Maki takes the initiative and authorizes Warrior to fight back. Then Nanvel breaks out the good stuff. A super glove that can penetrate robot armor, and the gun of Miya's dreams - a mega-shotgun. Eventually all three members of Serberous are apprehended.. But the virtual drug syndicate makes it known... they haven't seen the last of them...
