RG Veda

Summary: >

There was a time of peace, when gods and mankind flourished. That peace was shattered when a war broke out, and the old king of the gods was slain. The current ruler is a very cruel master, and the land of mankind has withered away. There is however hope. It is said that if seven special people come together, that the darkness will pass. Of course the dark lord himself isn't going to sit idly bye while this assembly will attempt to take place.

Thoughts: >

I think probably the only thing holding this anime from being swept under the rug entirely in anime history, is the fact that the manga was created by CLAMP (a well known, popular artist group in Japan). Just because the people who created the source material are talented, doesn't mean anime based off their material won't suck. Such is the case with RG Veda.

They explain this stuff between the war and gods, but then launch into a completely unrelated plot. Which might be forgiveable if that plot had any direction either. Little is accomplished, it doesn't go anywhere, it's poorly put together, and on top of that... it's boring.

Animation wise, RG Veda is okay. The character designs are probably only real highlight here. If you're into that 90s kind of look. I'd advise you to skip this one, but it's gotten to be so obscure that you probably couldn't find it anyway. Consider yourself fortunate.
