Summary: >
Se Himiko is a spiritualist who is used to dealing with the occult. She is very level headed and logical. It comes as a surprise to her when she deals with an exorcism of a young princess that things don't seem to be falling into place. With the vampire attacks around the city Himiko searches for the attacker, only to find Miyu. Miyu is indeed a vampire, but not the kind described in the lore of old. She is unaffected by sunlight and holy water. But as Himiko is drawn more into this world she knows nothing about she finds nothing but more questions. It also appears that she is destined to cross path with the vampire girl Miyu a few more times, as Miyu hunts the creatures known as Shinma.
Is Miyu good or evil? What exactly are the Shinma? And what is up with that guy who hangs out with Miyu? These questions and more are answered in Vampire Princess Miyu.

An all out classic series by now, Vampire Princess Miyu was actually one of the first series brought to the United States commercially. Animation wise it is indeed dated, however the story and music are timeless. It has a much more dark and mysterious tone that was more fashionable during the 80's, so I guess you could say the feel may be a bit dated as well if you're into the more glitzy goth type scene.
Overall I would say this is one of my favorite titles. It is just so well rounded that it's hard to say anything bad about it. I will however warn you that I've heard bad things about the dub. If you are a dub lover and refuse to watch subtitles, you may want to think this one over. Baseline is that this series is highly recommended.
