Summary: >
It was a dark time in Japan during the year of 1614. The shogun of the era banned Christianity, directly pitting followers of the faith against the government. With this in mind, the shogun sent the most famous ninja warrior named Jubei to help deal with the problem. Unfortunately it's sort a lose/lose situation - since if Jubei fails, he must face the shogunate, and if he succeeds, then he must deal with the dark prophecy that means that the leader of the Christian group will be reborn as a terrible demon. And unfortunately for Jubei - he did succeed....

Hmm.. super ninja anime. Well despite the rumors of some, this is NOT the follow up series to Ninja Scroll. And actually that mistake is pretty easy to make since this title makes no effort to dispel that myth either. In fact you could say that it is in a way riding on the coat tails of Ninja Scroll.
Ninja Resurrection is at the bottom of the heap when it comes to martial arts anime. First of all there is not plot, which you might say is not needed with super ninja type characters running around. However to some extent there MUST be a plot because really that's the glue that holds such a title together, and in this title it is very lacking. It's rather strait forward and not too terribly interesting.
From the first episode or two I gathered that this was more about showing excessive blood, guts, and carnage than really trying to move a plot forward. I suppose it is meant to 'horrify' the viewer to some extent, but with no connection to any of these people you feel disconnected from them. Actually, the blood and guts sort of thing sounds a lot better than it is, because the animation is actually rather poor. For that matter the designs of this anime are also really bad.
In a nutshell I see no reason to really go with this title. I mean there are countless other titles that tread the same ground far better than Ninja Resurrection. And just about all of them have a better direction than this title was heading. Highly recommended that you avoid this title. Oh, and it was never really completed either. There were two episodes released in America, then they were talking about it. Now it doesn't look like the entire series will ever make it past the first two episodes.
