Summary: >
Eat the Mermaid's flesh and become immortal. Would you take immortality if you could? It sounds like an easy decision, but those who made it aren't quite sure if the benefits were really worth it. Life as an immortal becomes really boring after a while. People live and die around you, yet you continue to live. Surely having someone with you that would die of age like everyone else would be quite important. This is what binds Yuna and Mana as the journey across Japan.
This time the two find themselves in a small town along Japan's coastline. They both take rather menial jobs to get by and pass the time. Then they hear about unusual occurrences at a local mansion. A woman was involved in a boating accident, and while her husband was killed she sustained major injuries, but recovered quite quickly. In fact she has no scars from her ordeal. Could she also be an immortal. Yuna and Mana decide to find out, only to uncover all sorts of dark secrets the father they investigate. But is this woman as evil as they think?

This story follows the tradition of its predecessor Mermaid's Forest. There's actually a whole series known as the Mermaid Saga, but only two of them have made it to anime form. That's actually too bad because both of them are exceptional titles.
So what to say about this title. Well first of all the animation is really dated. And even for its time I doubt it was much to talk about. However what really makes this anime timeless is the twisted storyline. As it progressed I found myself more and more into it right up until the end. Unfortunately I really can't talk much about this anime because while it's got a good story, it's way too easy to spoil it and believe me it's really good. I was actually lucky enough to find it on VHS at an on-line store before the death of such videos in the anime world.
Now as an anime horror you need to keep in mind that this is horror in the classic context. You will not see any bloodbaths here. It's just rather disturbing and.. well I keep using this word, but it's so twisted. Man I love this stuff ^^
Since it's rather dated now, anyone who requires good or at least modern animation will be disappointed by this title. Anyone who dislikes horror should stay away. Any horror fans who want endless gory deaths should also stay away. But I'd recommend it to just about any other anime fan, because the story is cool and well that's enough for me. If you like this sort of classical horror anime, I'd also recommend Mermaid's Forest, and possibly Laughing Target.
