Summary: >
Life for Suguru had returned to its peaceful state. Well as peaceful as it could get. There's always some misadventure happening in his household. And while Mahoro's arch enemy Ryuuga is still a teacher at Suguru's school, he doesn't seem to be causing any problems. But then there is the arrival of a new girl: Minawa. Like Mahoro, she is also an android, but she doesn't come from Vesper or Saint. Instead she comes from the super secret organization known as "the management". You know, the super secret organization that has controlled the world from the shadows for centuries? That one? Right.
Suguru decides to keep Minawa for his growing android maid collection. But all is not right with the new household member. There are plots brewing with the Management, and it looks like Mahoro will end up stuck right in the middle of it. Besides that there is the fact that Mahoro's life is still limited and will end in the near future. While determined to live her life to the fullest before she stops functioning, she is unsure if she will be able to atone for her sins in the limited time left.
And Sukijo Sensei? She's still around.

Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful is the second season for Mahoromatic following the first 12 episodes. While the first series had a conclusion that closed that storyline, the second season brings the series to a conclusion. And a strange one at that. For the most part SMB follows the same formula as the first series. Actually the episodes, comedy, etc all follow the first series to a T. In that respect if you thought you were getting tired of the antics in Mahoromatic, then it's probably better to steer clear of this one because it's more of the same. Even so I found I had a harder time getting into this series. It wasn't until the middle that I found myself enjoying any of the episodes. Why? Because of the new character Minawa.
Minawa is one of those characters I really hate. She doesn't really DO anything. She just sits quietly and falls over all the time - or does some other clumsy action. Then she says "sorry". Yeah that about sums her up. Yet the first part of SMB seems to orbit this girl for some reason, despite the fact that there is nothing interesting about her. I almost wrote the entire series off until I got to the episode where Suguru's grandfather showed up. At that point the series tended to pick up and focus less on Minawa. Unfortunately that was kinda short lived because it wasn't long after before the series switched to the more serious themes.
Aside from that plot elements were sort of okay. SAINT suddenly goes from this mysterious ominous alien organization, to being in the backdrop. Instead we're supposed to forget about them and concentrate on the new evil: "The Management". I found such a shift a bit hard to chew. And as far as the plot goes, much to do with Management and SAINT, and even VESPER are left rather vague considering the back story they were supposed to supply.
Another hitch is the fan service. While a boob may have poked out here and there in the first TV season, the "fan service" is out full tilt in the second. I found it rather unnecessary and not really adding much to the overall content of the show - and I say that as a fan who likes to be "serviced".
Last but not least there is the last episode. If you've ever been knocked unconscious and then awoken only to find yourself somewhere really weird, you'll relate to the ending which takes place 20 years after the rest of the story. The theme is totally different from the rest of the series. Some like it, some hate it. Me... I didn't like it.

You see after Mahoro stops functioning Suguru moves on and never returns to Japan. Instead he wanders around looking for renegade Management androids. He's also got a bounty on his head. And Mahoro isn't left dead but then returns to the disenchanted Suguru. I honestly wonder about Gainax and their weird endings at times. Like they were supposed to be writing the last episode of Mahoromatic, but instead spent the night smoking pot and watching Blade Runner.
Anyway I really enjoyed 3 episodes in this series. The grandfather episode, the kung-fu episode, and the Valentine's Day episode. Most of the same antics used in the first series I had seen before and weren't giving me anything new. The action/drama episodes I was rather indifferent about, and the other episodes left me somewhat bored. If you are seeking more Mahoromatic after watching the first season, then Something More Beautiful should give you what you want: more of the same. If you can be contented on leaving sleeping dogs lie and you are okay with the conclusion in the first series, I'd say you'd be better off not bothering with the second. I can't say that I regret watching it, but felt like I spent a lot of time watching filler content that didn't really jive with me.
