Summary: >
Sana is a child actor on a show called "A Child's Toy". While the show supposedly features many children, Sana is considered the star do to her "enthusiasm". And by enthusiasm I meand something like crack induced hysteria. But Sana's life isn't so easy either. Her school life is in trouble mainly due to a boy named Akito Haiyama who has completely taken over the class and holds some mysterious power over the teacher. Aside from that there are also pressures from being a child actor, and the fact that Sana's adopted mother who is a famous writer, will soon release a book detailing that Sana is in fact adopted. How can Sana cope with all of this? As it turns out Sana's best friend may turn out to be her formal rival.
This and about a zillion other sub plots and stories all contained within Kodomo No Omocha.

One thing I'd like to point out is that the target audience for this anime is probably in the pre-teen group. While Kodomo no Omocha doesn't pull punches in many aspects, some of the titles feel a lot like an episode of Sesame Street. And you know that's kind of ironic, because in other ways this show is deeper than a lot of prime time dramas you'd see on typical American television. Now if it sounds like I'm harping on how pathetic US TV is, then maybe I am, however this title actually does have a lot of depth to it. And some of the stuff is fairly resqué for that matter. I mean Sana refers to Rei as her "pimp". And you get the impression that Zenjirou has a beyond kinky personal life.
So anyway, if you can get over the fact that this is a kids show; you'll probably find it more than worth checking into. This could quite possibly be the funniest show I've seen ever. I mean there are some shows you find amusing. And it's sort of sad to say that a good comedy can be considered "laugh out loud" funny, as if most things weren't funny enough to actually induce a laugh. But Kodomo No Omocha had me seriously laughing so hard it hurt. I mean this show is honestly hilarious. And even the recap episode is funny.
But it's certainly not for everyone either. Sana's insanity can wear thin on some people. Animation wise this show is nothing in particular, but it's not really meant to be either. Some people may not really take much to following the exploits of a eleven year old girl. Aside from that if you prefer subtitles but read slowly, this title will completely lose you as people can at times talk at a million miles an hour - sometimes simultaneously.
Personally I would highly recommend this as a comedy, but I think it's important to understand that Kodomo No Omocha is very much oriented towards a certain type of audience. Not necessarily kids mind you, but certainly someone who can appreciate the toils of kids. Man I wish there were shows like this when I was a kid. Kid shows in the States just have no spine, or a brain for that matter. Over time it's only gotten worse with the censorship with violence, and the politically correct crap.
