Those Who Hunt Elves IISummary: > They're back! The terrible trio: Junpei the martial arts expert. Ritsuko, the weapons expert. And Airi, actress extraordinaire and master of deception. Together with the elder of all elves and high priestess Celcia, nothing can stop them. But nothing is really stopping them, it's just that finding thousands of spell fragments by stripping elves is really time consuming. As was seen in the first season, Those Who Hunt Elves must put their skills to the test in order to find their way back to Japan. But even though they've been all over the land of fantasy, they find they still have many curious and strange things to discover. Thoughts: > So being a sort of fan of the first season, I was quite happy to check out the next season. However I can't say I was quite as thrilled with the second. Why? Actually, that's a hard thing for me to pin down. I guess you could say the antics are getting a bit old here. In the first volume, we were introduced to the characters and their skill sets. The problems typically revolved around just managing to get a spell fragment, or each person taking turns to utilize their skill to solve a problem. The second series does the same thing, but we've already seen this before. And actually many of the problems they're trying to solve are really boring. I mean trying to save mermaids from a big shark. No, there aren't lasers mounted on its head, nor is it imbued with magical powers - it's just a big shark. Likewise the comedy is the same content, and Celcia turns into a panda. There were some interesting points though. Many of the antics that worked before are actually still humorous in a way, if not a bit tired. And I'll honestly tell you that although "toilet humor" is not my cup of tea, Episode 2: Those Who Wipe was absolutely hilarious. Junpei "has to go" so bad that buzzers are sounding and the screen starts flashing red - heh, I've totally been there -_-; But he just wants something that's soft, and smooth to the touch to wipe with... just like this cute little bear he happened upon. The little bastard is even white.. heh heh Hehhh... I guess as a side note I'll say that if you like Airi's character, then you'll actually get a good dose of her in this season. To tell you the truth if you're a fan of Japanese voice acting, then Airi's many theatrical performances are something that you will not want to miss. That of course doesn't carry into the dubbed version, but the dub was actually fairly well done too. So if you weren't into the first series, then you might as well move along, because there's nothing to see here. If you had a lukewarm opinion of the first series, I'd actually recommend skipping it as well as many of the gimmicks have started to wear thin. Fans of the series are probably okay since the second season treads right where the first one left off. If you haven't seen the series, then obviously you should watch the first season first. Quote: > Junpei: Are you okay chicken dude? You say you got amnesia from a concussion?! Think back! You're a chicken! An honorable chicken that can make curry! Screen Caps: >
