Princess Rouge

Also known as: Legend of the Last Labyrinth

Summary: >

Yusuke was never a ladies man, but one day has one fall into his lap from the sky. Rouge has amnesia, so Yusuke decides to take her in as she has no where else to go. Time passes and they live happily together. Then two women arrive clamming to be her sisters from a magical alternate universe. Not long after, others also seeking Rouge find the pair, but have far more sinister intent. Will they be able to stay together?

Thoughts: >

I try to avoid comparing one series to another, but that's fairly tough this time as Princess Rouge is a near carbon copy of the Oh! My Goddess formula. I'm not talking "inspired", this one is a near facsimile. As is often the case with copycats, it feels like a half hearted effort, especially with the characters. Yusuke is a generic male protagonist. Rouge is the feminine ideal as magical girlfriend material. The obnoxious sisters are well... lively. The rest are generic villainous villains. You can probably piece together this anime in your head, but it's possible whatever you're thinking is a little better.

With all of that take into account, it's expected it would be low budget, but Princess Rouge has good quality production in animation and design. The big problem with this anime is that it was dropped after two episodes. It's not only inconclusive, it's hardly started. That's the big reason to skip this one. It's the beginning of something which is probably only mediocre, but doesn't even get that far.
