Fairy Princess RenAlso known as: Elf Princess Rane Summary: >If you had a set of jumper cables hooked up to the nipples of Indiana Jones, you'd get a guy like Go. Go is always in search of treasure, and for once he finds a clue which could actually lead him there. He finds an elf named Rane. Go and Rane have a ... language barrier, but the two seem to know enough that they could help each other. Even with a lot of obstacles facing them, they seem to be on the right track... even though they're not exactly sure what they're searching for. Thoughts: >Some would call this anime charming, others would call it funny. It is perhaps both of these things, but most of all, it's absolutely INSANE. In between laughing now and then, I found myself saying... "what the hell?!.." The story has a very strange coherency, that is fairly hard to follow. Fairy Princess Ren is blatant, in-your-face, and very confusing; but I believe that is what gives this anime its charm. For an anime veteran such as myself, I found this title to be rather interesting, but I would recommend that people who are new to anime avoid it. It will simply overwhelm the uninitiated. The subtitles come at about a million miles an hour (but that can't be helped), and even I had a hard time keeping up, and I think of myself as a fairly capable subtitle reader. One of the characters also talks backwards, and I think it was a rather poor decision to subtitle backwards as well. Sort of voids the point of subtitles doesn't it? If you think you can keep up with the subtitles, and you're looking for a totally outrageous anime, this is it. I rather liked it.... but I'm weird like that. I have deemed this anime the title of "Most insane anime ever". And as such I've found some people have actually challenged this, but don't confuse "insane" with "stupid". Yes, I have yet to see any anime this insane that approaches Fairy Princess Ren, even discounting the stupidity in many other titles. Screen Caps: >
