Amazing Nurse Nanako

Summary: >

She's not to smart, she whines a lot, she's not to helpful, and she's got boobs bigger than her head. It's amazing nurse Nanako! But once the mad scientist Dr. Ogami decides to insert Nanako's brain into a cybernetic combat robot, things start to get seriously complicated. Well certainly complicated for someone like Nanako.

Thoughts: >

First off I'd like to point out that I saw the dub, and the dubbed voice of Nanako seriously irritated me. Second thing, is that Nanako is seriously annoying to begin with. Swirl all this around with a plot that isn't all that interesting, and you get an anime that I didn't think very much of. Probably the only parts I found amusing where the parts where Nanako gets abused, but that's bad in itself. I mean when a character is so annoying that you sadistically enjoy watching that character being abused, that's bad. Bad bad bad.

You could see the direction this title was trying to take, but it was still implemented... wrong. I guess in the end just throwing together some strange story, with a fan service frenzy, and with as much anime wacky-ness as you can think of just isn't enough. At some point there has to be a... well, a point. And that I think is where this anime went wrong, because when you get right down to it and peel away the layers of what makes an anime good, it has to have something good at it's core.

Animation wasn't bad. Character designs were terrible in my opinion. As far as the story goes. Blah. It seems to me that if you were going to come up with a story for an anime title, this might look good on paper; but when push came to shove and they didn't flesh it out better - it just didn't have the umph needed to pull Amazing Nurse Nanako out from the hole that the other aspects dug for it. And why is this title even called Amazing Nurse Nanako? Not to nitpick here, but she doesn't really seem to medically service anyone. I mean she's dressed like a maid. She does the services of a maid. I think that makes her a maid. Not that I mind a girl just dressing up as a nurse for fun every now and then. I'll call a girl the Amazing {whatever} if the skirt is short enough.

Overall assessment: waste of time.
