Akito Haiyama

Akito is the other main character of the story. Cool, collected, always calm, and usually with his hands in his pockets, he is the exact opposite of Sana. Typically he has a totally blank expression which he maintains at all times. In fact the only one that can ever get him to break the expression is Sana. About the only time he really shows much emotion is when he gets very angry/fustrated which usually results in him mercilessly kicking in-animate objects.

Akito may act laid back, but in fact he has a lot of problems at home, until Sana helps out. Somewhere along the line, Akito found that he liked Sana, and the two became very close. Close enough in fact that Sana feels that she can tell him things that she can tell no one else. Unfortunately Akito occasionally has flashes of impulsive behavior, which usually results in him trying to cop a feel, and then Sana chasing him around with a large hammer and/or generally running after him yelling at the top of her lungs. Akito finds that being with Sana isn't quite as easy as it seems. First it turns out that his friend Tsuyoshi also likes Sana. Later it turns out that Akito has a rival named Naozumi Kamura who is a child star like Sana. Akito feels he doesn't have anything to offer Sana, so at the principal's suggestion, he decides to take up karate, to prove himself to her.
