Some of the things in Kodomo no Omocha are sort of hard to follow. So that's what this page is for, general information (not related directly to the story) all shoved in one convenient pile.

Komawari

Sana often makes mention of the term komawari. Kamawari is the practice of being able to move in small circles and change direction quickly. It also seems that Sana belongs to a group known as Kamawari where she learned many skills to become an actress, such as being able to yell at inhuman volumes.

Kodocha

Kodocha is a contracted form of Kodomo no Omocha, and is sometimes used to refer to the show (thus meaning they're the same thing). Often times you can see "Kodocha" written on certain things in the show if your quick enough to catch it.

Kodomo no Omocha Best Collection

The Kodomo no Omocha Best Collection consists of 22 songs, running for about 1:20, total. The soundtrack contains the full versions of both opening and ending songs, as well as quite a few other odds and ends songs. Unfortunately most of these "other songs" aren't really that great. The other problem is with the fact that this soundtrack consists of a LOT of different versions of the same songs. While I do sort of like the opening and closing songs, as well as two other songs, I really didn't like this soundtrack that much. I guess I'd recommend getting a different Kodocha sound track instead of the "Best" Collection.

Peggy Hayama

Towards the beginning of the series Sana makes references to someone named Peggy Hayama. While most of the people in America may not know this, Peggy Hayama is a famous entertainer in Japan. Whether Akito actually 'gets' these references, or just ignores them is hard to tell.

Kodomo no Omocha OAV

While the Kodomo no Omocha TV series was a big hit in Japan, and is gaining popularity in America, few people here seem to know that Kodomo no Omocha was also an OAV series. The OAV seems to more closely mirror the manga, but it's actually quite different from the TV series. The OAV and TV series hit on the same points, but the OAV manages to condense a frightening number of events in a VERY short period of time, while the TV series develops things at a much more slower pace, and often inserting side stories in the process. The OAV series also completely differs in the character designs, and is almost... tame compared to it's TV counterpart. The most notable thing about the OAV is the absence of everyone's favorite creature Babbit.

Inside Jokes & hard to catch tidbits

These are a few odd things that I caught, that you may not normally catch while watching the show. I'm not saying this is a complete list, but just a few things I personally caught. These may contain spoilers.

Episode #23:

When Sana needs help from Akito she decides to use the Buruccha to send him a coded message. Akito on the reciving end didn't know what to make of it so he whips out a book to help him decode the message. The title of the book flies by pretty quick, but it reads "Buruccha Code Even a Boss Monkey could Understand, by Sana Kurata". Note that Akito never made out the code.

Episode #19:

It's meantioned that Sana was named after the day she was born SAngatsu NAnoka (the 7th of March). Sana is slightly distressed since she may have been born on the 6th of March which would be SAngatsu MUika, making her name Samu. Akito thinks this is funny since "Samu" is how you pronounce the English name "Sam".

When Sana decides that she want's to meet her little sister, she decides to meet her in an amusement park. And what amusement park to they go to? None other than "Ribbon Land". Ribbon is the name of a popular girls magazine which is a collection of comics targeted at younger girls. Kadomo no Omocha was one of the featured series in Ribbon.
