Burn Up Excess

More action, more adventure, more Maya (blowing stuff up), some more humor, new villains, and a tad bit more ecchi, Burn Up X (‘X' is for excess) is a good follow-up for Burn Up W. I'm not exactly a know it all of what's going on (I'm sort of playing by ear), so some information may not be totally correct. Sorry. Anyway, more of all the good stuff in Burn Up W, Burn Up X is worth checking out. Hopefully once released in the U.S., this will be a better bargain than Burn Up W, but I suppose that all depends on if A.D. Vision obtains the rights.

Origonally I had intended to simply do a synopsis for each episode of Burn Up Excess (like I had done for Burn Up W), but that was before I found out that there are 13 episodes. I really don't feel like trying to expand on that many episodes, besides which I wouldn't do a very good job anyway. All in all, there is a lot more to Burn Up X, if for no other reason, just because this series has a lot more room to expand. Burn Up X also goes farther into the histories of the individual characters, which enhances their depth. The nice thing about this series (and with most of anime) is that there is a general underlying plot, but episodes often vary and goin into their own story lines giving you a break from the overall theme. Generally the antics and such are the same formula for Burn Up W, but X gives you a lot more to watch instead of ending up with that sort of empty feeling and saying.. "Um... that was it?"

Unfortunatly the rights were picked up by A.D. Vision which means you can almost garuntee that your going to have to pay out the nose for this series. Should they deciede to release each episode separatly such as they did with Burn Up W, that will accumulate to $260 to watch this series. Should they release the series by volume (such as in Japan), that will be truncated to $130. If all this sounds dismaying, consider that this is for the DUBBED version. Subtitles would cost you $312 or $156! But don't be too worried since it will be well into 2000 (or even LATER) before ADV ever gets this release out.
