Shoujo Kakume Utena

Although the majority of Shoujo Kakumei Utena is a bit abstract, probably the least understood is Miki and his watch. This is probably due to the fact that this is never totally explained during the show. All of the student counsel members seem to get letters from "the end of the world", which supposedly explain what will happen. Perhaps the letters Miki receive are a bit more detailed, and perhaps he is so concerned about the exact precision, that he times events to get things just right. Well I suppose that's a good enough explanation for some people, but I think there's more to it than that.

There are quite a few things Miki could be using the stopwatch for...

He could be such a bad actor that he has to use a stopwatch in order to just say his lines at the right time. (Of course that would be weird since he's an animated character).
Maybe he's a perv, and the watch actually shows pornos all day long.
Maybe Miki only has an I.Q. of 12 and is easily entertained by incrementing numbers.
Perhaps he times how long Touga can keep his libido under control
Note: this number (measured in seconds) never exceeds 30.
It keeps him in contact with the mothership.
He's trying to draw attention away from the fact that he has blue hair.
He got into a staring match with the watch, and has yet to win.
There's a little voice in the watch that tells him to do "bad things".
He's timing how long it will take until someone slaps Anthy yet again.
He thinks that if he clicks the buttons and watches it long enough, that it will do something different.
Maybe he has some perverse fetish for digital number displays.
Maybe he's just killing time

Well I suppose all the aforesaid are a possibility.... but could the watch perhaps have a more... SINISTER value?

Perhaps the watch is just a front, and in fact has some greater function in which we can only speculate. Could the watch in fact have some mind altering capability??? Miki seems to tinker with his watch an awful lot. It could be some sort of scanning device, in which he carefully selects his next victim. Once he has his target. He could approach them, and brainwash unsuspecting people.

The exact purpose of the brainwashing is unknown, but it can have devastating effects on neurons, and synaptic pathways in the brain, causing strange behavior, convulsions, and/or strange poses for no apparent reason

Is he some warped scientist bent on some sort of mind control? Or is he some alien being trying to aid a forthcoming invasion? Just why does he have blue hair any damn way? There are no easy questions to these answers, but there is some deeper truth amiss than someone who simply has nothing better to do than time things.
