Iczelion is the latest instalment in a series of anime created by Toshihiro Hirano . The series began with "Fight! Iczer 1", which consisted of three episodes. The second series is: "Adventure! Iczer 3". What happened to Iczer 2? I'll explain that later. Anyway in 1994 the latest instalment of the series was introduced: Iczelion. As for Iczer 1&3 I'm not going to get into those because I have links to two great Iczer pages. The Iczer series is not very predictable. One thing that Toshihiro Hirano is not afraid of is killing off major characters. This amazed me, but it just goes to show how this series is a bit different from others. Keep in mind that my page is mainly about Iczelion, and you can go to the other cool Iczer pages to find out about Iczer 1 & Iczer 3. Thus far Acts 1 & 2 of Iczelion are available (with 3 on the way hopefully). So sit back and relax while you still can, because things are only going to get more exciting from here.

The Story

Prelude to Iczelion

If you want to really understand Iczelion your going to first know a little about it's precursors: "Fight! Iczer 1", and "Adventure! Iczer 3". I don't know a lot about these two series. Iczer 1 I actually found a little bit confusing, but then again I'm a little slow in the head. Once again if you would like more information on these two series then go to my links section.

In Iczer 1 we are introduced to the base concepts and themes that run throughout the series

The Iczers - The Iczers were created as the ultamate living weapons by the Cthuwulf. Iczer 1 & 3 being good Iczers, and Iczer 2 being rather...evil. More or less the Iczers always are intertwined with a race of androids that are trying to take over the universe. I'm not too sure why. It's because they're evil I guess.
Alternate Dimensions - Iczer 1 almost always does combat in alternate dimensions. Alternate dimensions can look like a warped version of our dimension or can look like anything else really. Usually only an individual is teleported into the dimension, time may stand relatively still or may continue to pass.
Voids - Voids are powerful warriors that have humanoid type forms, but the similarity ends there. Voids almost always do combat in alternate dimensions.
Geas - A Gea can be described as an alien foot soldier, lesser in strength that a Void and many times appearing in large numbers.
Nagisa - This is going to sound stupid, but Nagisa is always a part of the entire Iczer series. Although it never states that she is the same person and her family name changes in each series, all of the Nagisas are similar. I think there is quite a bit of character recycling going on here.
Fuji Ships - There are no Fuji ships in Iczelion, just in Iczer 1 & 3. Basicly they are mankinds pathetic attempt at resistance. Here is a summing up of the first three Fuji ships. Iczer 2?

No there is no Iczer 2 as a series. Iczer 2 was a person created by Big Gold with one purpose: to destroy Iczer 1. Iczer 2 is thus evil. Near the end of "Fight! Iczer 1", she is killed by Iczer 1. Such a cruel fate for such a cool character. But wait! Iczer 2 comes back in "Adventure! Iczer 3". Yay. Even more amazing is that she becomes good by the end of "Iczer 3".

Adventure! Iczer 3

"Adventure! Iczer 3" is just an expansion of "Fight! Iczer 1", but many improvements are made. The story takes place in the future, after "Fight! Iczer 1 (keep in mind that Iczer 1 restored the Earth and that no one remembers anything). Iczer 3 is Iczer 1's little sister. She is very young and immature, and she acts the part. It is in this series when we start seeing more humor to lighten the mood, unlike Iczer 1 which was serious all the way though. It certainly makes the show more interesting when the villains are dead serious and trying to destroy Iczer 3, while she simply considers fighting to be a game. Here are a few more things we see in "Adventure Iczer 3".

Character Diversity - In "Adventure Iczer 3" we see more diversity among the enemy. We see more than just Geas and Voids, we see diverse villains under the control of Neos Gold.
More Characters - I guess I should mention that there are more characters too. In "Fight Iczer 1" there are only two main characters: Nagisa, and Iczer 1 (I'm not sure Iczer 2 counts).
Kawai - Nagisa gets a friend. Hmmmm... good candidate for character recycling here.
Queen Fuji - Wow! A Fuji ship that makes it farther than 10 feet!

By the end of "Adventure Iczer 3" the universe was once again at peace. Thus things were as they should be...or not! Evil has not yet finished with harassing the Earth. A new threat will soon appear, but this time it is up to a select few to defend our planet. Now for the good part....

Iczelion

The Iczers could not keep up with all of the androids spreading throughout the universe. So they decided to make machines known as Iczels. Iczels would become a suit of armor for a human, giving her abilities similar to that of an Iczer. These people would be known as Iczelions. Iczelions would then defend their relative planets
