T h o u g h t s . o f . C a t n i p   >   My DBZ Page

Why is it that I hear the same sort of thing all the time? "You have a nice page, but you need a page about Dragon Ball Z". Keep in mind that this doesn't necessarily mean DBZ. It could just as easily be any other popular series. For those of you who don't know, I've dedicated my site to uncommon anime, as stated in my site info section. While I don't expect people to read, or find that section, I still wonder why in the hell people keep bugging me about it. Aren't there enough damn pages on DBZ? If you REALLY want ANYTHING on Dragon Ball Z, I'm pretty damn sure you can find it on the Anime Turnpike, amongst the hundreds of links related to the series. But no, this just isn't enough. People just can't be happy about the fact that there are already a million pages on DBZ, no they have to come to my page and ridicule me about it. WHAT is there left to do for this series? Maybe I should make a shrine to Goku, I'm sure that hasn't been done yet. Or maybe I should post a really crappy small movie to compete with the rest of the horde of DBZ media pages. My page is specifically called Archen's ANIME page for a reason; because it is about anime in general, and may or may not include DBZ based on my own personal discretion. I'd like to think that maybe someone could come to my page and learn about something different, like perhaps a series that there aren't thousands of pages about already.... a place where people might learn about something NEW.

I do however have other popular series on my site. Sailor Moon is a holdover from when I first started my page (which was actually a Sailor Moon page). With my hindsight now I would never have started with a Sailor Moon page, but something else. I also have an Evangelion page, but at the time I really didn't care if there were a lot of pages on it or not, I just made a page on what I liked (and there were a lot less Eva pages back then too). And I have an Utena page, but I created that before the series somehow exploded in popularity, and now I'm rather disappointed that I even made the page since there's now more than enough on that series too.

Isn't there MORE to anime than the few titles you see EVERYWHERE? I hate to break this to people, but there is a LOT of really good anime stuff out there (which is probably way better than most of the popular stuff) that hardly anyone watches. And what if someone decided to make a site with a bunch of non popular series that the person liked, so that other people might find out about them. A pretty novel concept, but lets forget about that. Lets rehash the same damn thing over and over again and pound it into the dirt.

And on a final note, I have not watched Ranma 1/2, nor do I ever intend on watching it. I don't care how popular it is, I don't care about all you people whining about how great it is and how I should watch it. I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT AND I'M NOT MAKING A PAGE ABOUT IT. There are enough pages on Ranma out there, I don't need to make one. If it is so great, then tell all your friends about it, fill your room with Ranma posters, buy each episode twice, and make tons and tons of Ranma pages. The universe will not pivot on whether I make a page on this series or not. I don't think I will die someday and God will say to me: "Well heck son, ya didn't watch Ranma 1/2, guess your gonna have to go 'ta hell."
